| There are many things, which are to be given
prime importance during the manufacture of the medicine. If
the ingredients are not in the right proportion, the medicine
will not give the right result however good the vaidya is. So,
all the ingredients for the medicine should be taken in the
correct quantity. Along with this, the time allowed for manual
grinding and should be seen to with utmost care. Almost sixteen
ingredients are required for the preparation of this medicine.
The raw materials should be used in its correct form : those
that have to be powdered should be powdered, those which have
to be incinerated should be incinerated and those which should
be purified must be purified. Only then the correct effect of
the medicine will be obtained. |

Grinding Method |
 |
| A thorough checking of all the ingredients and
its measurement should be made before starting the grinding.
It requires two grinding stones and its pistols. The pistols
are shaped conically so that the workers can use it with one
hand. One stone containing purging croton seeds and the seeds
of bullet wood tree should be grinded along with lemon juice.
The other ingredients, each one should be grinded separately
with lime juice, in the second stone. This process is to be
done for two days. |
| The actual counting starts from the next day.
And lasts upto 41 days. From the third day the medicines of
both the stones should be mixed. Taking half the amount of medicine
from each stone and putting it in the other stone. This should
be done once in two hours. Continuous grinding has to be done
for 37 days. |
| Nine workers are employed per day to make the
medicine. A batch consists of three members & should work
for eight hours. The batches shuffle every eight hours. Thus
making it a 24 hours process. While grinding, all the ingredients
should get mixed well. If 100 mg, of medicine is used, it should
contain a proportionate amount of all the ingredients. The medicine
will have its power of expelling the toxins in a single day
only if all these procedures are done carefully. This makes
the medicine capable of expelling all the toxins even from the
deepest structures. The toxins, which reach the gut from all
the parts of the body, will be expelled out either by vomiting
or by purgation. This highly potent formality used in these
procedures makes it act as an expulsion drug as well as a rejuvenating
drug at the same time. |
 |
37 out of 41 days, the medicine should
be ground with lime juice. On rest of the days this is avoided
to decrease the water content in the medicine & thus makes
it thick. During this period more workers are employed for grinding
& it should be done with more pressure and momentum. It
helps in the formation of a particular kind of oil from the
ingredients. |
| On these days the grinding process should last
for 12 hours. In the idle stage the medicine should be kept
in a vessel, in a slanting position. An oil comes out of the
mix and the quantity of oil increase day by day. This oil is
the essence of all the toxins in the raw drugs used. The expulsion
of toxins in the form of oil from the ingredients makes it a
drug without any side effects. This drug can be given to any
human being. If the workers do not use pressure while grinding,
the oil will not come out. On the last day, the oil should be
separated from the drug and the medicine should be made into
small round tablets in the shape and size of a pepper. Each
tablet should not in anyway contain more than 100 mg in weight. |
Precautions to be taken by
the workers |
| The volatile oil secreted during the processing
stage can cause rashes all over the face. To avoid this workers
should apply gingily oil all over their head and face, before
starting the grinding process, as well as while preparing the
tablets. It’s recommendable to drink a lot of buttermilk
while on duty. |
| The workers should be extremely cautious about
the preparation of the medicine as well as its purification.
A burning sensation is caused when it comes in contact with
other parts of the body, but the palms being an exception. A
spoon made of coconut shell may be used for mixing. |
Presence of Pancha Maha Bhoota’s
|
| It’s natural among people to have a doubt
in their mind ‘why don’t machines replace manual
labor, for grinding?’ |
| The machines are excluded because Ayurveda believes
in the presence of the five great elements or Pancha Maha Bhoota's.
viz. 'Prithvi'
is present in the stone used for grinding, ‘Jal'
or water from the juice used, 'Akash'
from the noise produced while grinding, 'Vayu'
from the breath of the worker who is grinding and 'Thejas'
or fire from the heat produced while grinding. Thus
the presence of the pancha maha bhoota's in the drug can be
explained. For this, manual labor is most important. |
