| Dehydration, giddiness and fainting can happen,
if the patient is not provided with enough water. Re-hydrate
the patient with glucose water, salted rice water or ORS |
| If the dosage is incorrect, excess purgation
may occur. If happens so, give a teaspoon of nutmeg seed Paste
(Sanskrit name jati, Hindi name jayphal, Botanical name Myristica
fragrans Houtt). This can be repeated for to 2 - 3 times in
every half an hour, according to the condition. Any preparation
of Kutaja seed (decoction, paste, tablets, and powder) can also
be given (Sanskrit name Indrayava, Hindi name Indrayav). Black
coffee and lemon juice with salt is also a preferred alternative
for excess purgation. |
| If the dosage & the handling of the medicine
are correct, the only hassle will be a stomachache, which is
unavoidable, since this is an effect of the expulsion of the
toxins present in the body. Inform the patient about this pain
before the medicine is given. |
| Before starting the treatment, a clear idea
about the nature of its effects should be given to the patient,
especially regarding vomiting, purgation and stomach pain. Precautionary
measures to avoid vomiting in the early hours, re-hydrating
techniques, diet after the treatment etc. should be explained
thoroughly. This helps to avoid complications. |
| It should be considered that no other remedies
should be taken for the stomachache, because all those factors
play a major role in reducing the efficacy of the treatment. |
